EXPLORE GEORGETOWN Excursion (approx - 4hrs)
Visit to the Wat Chayamangkalaram (Reclining Buddha Temple) and Dharmikarama Burmese Temple where you will witness the famous Golden Reclining Buddha statue and be awed by the intricate architecture of both temples. Next, heading down town for a tour of the heritage zone filled with old Colonial Buildings (photo stop), and where the famous historic Fort Cornwallis (photo stop) is situated. Be sure to capture as much as you can when you break for a “photo stop”! The fort was built in the late 18th century by the British East India Company and to date, its old structure and cannons are still intact. Continue on past the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower and proceed to the waterfront where you will get a chance to walk along the Clan Jetty, where houses are built on stilts and till today, it is still home to many, and to view one of the intricate clan houses along the way. After this, we will take a slow drive through the much talked about Street of Harmony, where houses of worship for the four main religions fall on the same street, namely the St. George’s Church, Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Temple), Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and Kapitan Keling Mosque.
