The United Arab Emirates is home to some of the world’s most extraordinary experiences, landmarks, cities and beaches. Although many people choose to holiday in the UAE for that oh-so-craved winter sun, there are a multitude of must-see, must-do, bucket-list activities and destinations you just can’t miss out on. Whether you’re visiting on a family holiday, multi-stop tour around the emirates, or romantic honeymoon adventure we’re here to provide the perfect itinerary for that once in a lifetime UAE trip you will never forget. Here are our expert recommendations for those planning their 2022 United Arab Emirate holiday:
1. At The Top, Burj Khalifa SKY
The tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa is most certainly a jewel of the UAE. Situated in the heart of Dubai, a visit up this 828-metre high needle is not for the faint of heart. However, those looking for unparalleled views of the majestic metropolis below will not want to miss this jaw-dropping experience. Find yourself stepping out 555 metres up onto the world’s highest observation deck, catch your breath with signature refreshments in the SKY lounge and brave it higher to level 125 (just think of the selfie).
2. Ancient Arabia - Al Bastakiya
Fancy an alternative to the modernized glitz and glamour Dubai offers? For a more traditional Arabian experience on your Middle Eastern holiday, pencil in a visit to Al Bastakiya, the historical district of Dubai. Al Fahidi is one of the emirates oldest and most historical neighbourhoods, dating back to the 1890s. Tour the fort and take in the ancient architecture including coral and shell bricks fused together with lime.
3. Ajman Birdwatching
One for nature lovers is a trip to Ajman, one of the most underrated UAE emirates where birdlife thrives in the wetlands of which over 60 different species of bird have been sighted including pink flamingos, green bee-eaters and herons. Not far from the cities centre yet a million miles away from the cosmopolitan feel of Dubai, UAE travellers looking for extraordinary natural wildlife will find it here in Ajman.
4. Jabel Jais Flight
Hold on to your hats, and everything else for that matter because our next recommendation is again holder of another world record (the Middle East just can’t help themselves). Jabel Jais Flight is the longest zip wire on the planet, measuring nearly 2 miles long, whisking riders over the rocky terrain of the Ras Al Khaimah’s desert land for 3 whole minutes. Again, this is more a bucket-list activity for adrenaline junkies than one for the whole family, but if you can brave it we would highly recommend.
5. Scuba Diving in Fujairah
Less wild and more wet is the highly sought-after activity of scuba diving. Immerse yourself in the underwater world at the bottom of the ocean for an up-close and personal view of the marine life found in the UAE. Fujairah is known to be one of the best destinations for Middle East holiday goers looking to make a splash. Visit Dibba coast and view the recently submerged coral reef; be sure to keep an eye out for turtles, they are much faster than they look. You’ll come across an array of colourful octopi as well as swooping schools of stingray so don’t forget your waterproof camera!
