For any first-timer, a visit to the archaeological site is a must, where in one location you can visit the Acropolis, Parthenon, and the Temple of Athena Nike. Stroll through Agora, the ancient marketplace, where Plato and Socrates are said to have walked. As the capital of a vivacious culture, take a moment to enjoy the happy ambiance of this continental city. Your first port is the Cycladic beauty that people fall in love with at first sight. Climb up the narrow stone pathways of Oia in Santorini for your moment with that stunning postcard-perfect view of white-washed buildings contrasting against the blue sea. Visit the ancient site of Akrotiri, a Minoan Bronze Age settlement frozen in time by volcanic ash. Take in the breathtaking panoramas from Oia, known for its whitewashed buildings and vibrant sunsets. Indulge in the local cuisine and savor the renowned Santorinian wines. We’ve arranged for a later departure from Santorini so you can relax and enjoy the renowned sunsets. This port is the first of three later stays we’ve arranged, and as the largest Greek island, you have a lot to explore! We dock at Aghios Nikolaos, Crete. Right in the center of town is Lake Voulismeni, lined by welcoming cafes where locals can recount the myth associated with their precious lake. Museums all across Greece contain so many artifacts that make the ancient civilizations come alive, so a visit to the museum in town is one good option. A visit to a local olive farm brings you up close to today’s life. Or frolic on beaches of turquoise waters protected by the large bay of Aghios Nikolaos, such as Voulisma Beach or Istron Bay Beach.
On the small and lesser-known island of Amorgos, you’ll be surprised by the relatively large Orthodox Church, which hosts a treasury of important documents below. The Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa is a remarkable feat that leaves visitors slightly stunned. Built in the 11th century, the white Cycladic structure is carved into a nearly 90 degree cliff at over 980 feet above the sea. Maybe you'll get to meet the families that dedicate themselves to growing herbs or making essentials oils from the gift of Nature that the Greek islands provide. Arriving in Rhodes, you can take your time uncovering the island's rich history because we will set sail late! Visit the medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and wander through its narrow streets, lined with medieval buildings and impressive fortifications. Explore the Palace of the Grand Master, a testament to the island's Knights Hospitaller past. Watch the sunset at a bar, cafe or on a romantic spot by the water. Sail to Ephesus, Turkey to visit the remarkably preserved ruins of the ancient city, including the Library of Celsus, the Great Theater, and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You’ll have more time to explore, since we have a later departure time in this fascinating country on the crossroads of continents and cultures. The excitement grows as you arrive at your last port of Mykonos, renowned for its vibrant nightlife and pristine beaches. Discover the archaeological site of Delos, an ancient sacred island, where you can explore the ruins of temples, houses, and statues. Take your time to get the last glimpse of the charming streets of Mykonos Town, with its whitewashed buildings and picturesque windmills as the sun goes down and locals take to the town.
