Embark on your Greek adventure in Athens, whose vision of sprawling white buildings harken to a thriving Mediterranean life and leaves an indelible impression. For any first-timer, a visit to the archaeological site is a must, where in one location you can visit the Acropolis, Parthenon, and the Temple of Athena Nike. Stroll through Agora, the ancient marketplace, where Plato and Socrates are said to have walked.

Next, we’ll dock at the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos, known for its vibrant nightlife and pristine beaches. Discover the archaeological site of Delos, an ancient sacred island, where you can explore the ruins of temples, houses, and statues. The windmills on the hilltops will draw your attention and you’ll want to visit for wonderful views. If possible, take a moment to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the waterfront cafes and boutiques.

After docking in Paros, you can immediately explore the capital, Parikia. A little surprise of the 4th century Panagia Ekatontapiliani church is the second floor, which offers a white-arched walkway for views of the congregation below. You can immerse in the laid-back island ambiance by indulging in the cuisine of Paros, such as revithada, an appetizer of locally-grown chickpeas or rafiolia, a turnover filled with a unique, local cheese, and pair it with the indigenous varieties of wine.

Setting sail for Turkey, we arrive at Bodrum, where you’ll have a little extra time to explore, since we’ve arranged a later departure time! Bodrum Castle dominates the view at the entrance to the port, with the tower piquing interest. Also known as the Castle of St. Peter, it was built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 15th century. You can imagine yourself as an underwater archaeologist as you discover the artifacts from shipwrecks in the Museum of Underwater Archaeology on the castle grounds. For more history, the Roman amphitheater overlooking the sea is a nice stop. Check out any one of the beaches on the Aegean Sea and, of course, there’s no better place to treat yourself to the steam rooms and body scrubs of a hammam than in a Turkish bath in Turkey. The city life changes slowly with the dusk and you get a privileged glimpse of this other side of local life as you return to your ship for your later departure.

In the Aegean Sea we dock at Kos, a small Peloponnesian island of ancient ruins charged with spiritual significance. Visit Asklepion, a sanctuary dedicated to the god of healing, the gymnasium, Roman baths and 2nd and 3rd century Roman Odean amphitheater. Moving forward to the 1300s, you can also visit the Castle of the Knights and the museum. Or go take advantage of the fun water activities that a small island can offer, such as kite or windsurfing and motorized watersports.

Let’s check off that bucket list the iconic island of Santorini, renowned for its stunning caldera views. Visit the ancient site of Akrotiri, a Minoan Bronze Age settlement frozen in time by volcanic ash. Oia is the iconic, postcard-perfect example of Cycladic architecture and worth a visit for your own photo. Indulge in the local cuisine and savor the renowned Santorinian wines. We’ve arranged for a later departure from Santorini so you can relax and enjoy the renowned sunsets.

Crete is an exciting island for a late departure time. We’ll call to the Heraklion port on the largest Greek island, which is one of the locals’ favorite islands to visit. You won’t want to miss the red columns contrasting with the blue skies of Knossos Palace. The vivid murals of bull-leaping, marine animals, dancers, and musicians gives you a hint of the richness of the sea life of the pre-Greek Minoan civilization. The story of ancient life on Crete unfolds in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, housing the famous Phaistos Disc. For a look at today's Crete, just hang out at the port old towns and sip some local wine as you enjoy the good life.

Remaining on Crete, your adventure around the Greek islands ends in the port of Chania. Greeks take ferries to Crete for their own weekend getaways, enjoying the Old Venetian Harbor and old town before heading out around the island. Get an early start with a stroll along the waterside, where you’ll find the lighthouse and the old fortress. Enter the oldest Ottoman structure on Crete. The Mosque of the Janissaries is a prominent landmark on the skyline that today hosts art exhibitions. You can discover the ancient history of an island important to the Venetians, Turks, Mycenaeans, and the mysterious Minoans in the Chania Archaeological Museum. And just enjoy that taste of local life and shopping at the Agora market, selling produce, local delicacies, and traditional products. As your last memory of your Greek seafaring adventure, savor the local dishes, such as lamb with wild greens and local cheeses paired with a local wines.
