
Tour Itinerary
In this country of a thousand facets, Mughal India encompasses visits to the principal masterpieces of pageantry - India of the great Mughals and of the Rajput Princes. Begin with Delhi, the city of contrasts followed by Gwalior, the pearl of Hindustan and continue to the Taj Mahal at Agra and then finish in the pink city of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan whilst also visiting the fantabulous castle at Samode.
Day 01: Arrive Into Delhi
Arrive in Delhi. Welcome and transfer to the hotel.
Afternoon visit Old Delhi, the capital of Mughals between the 16th and 19th century. Here there are many mosques, and monuments, with the most notable being the famous Red Fort and the Jama Masjid. The medieval atmosphere of the bazaars of Old Delhi contrasts sharply with the open, spacious streets of New Delhi, the imperial city created by the British. Overnight
Day 02- Delhi
Today visit the Lutyens designed Delhi beginning with India Gate, Parliament House and the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India, Qutab Minar- the 'Tower of Victory' erected by Qutabuddin Aibak in 1193 and Humayun's Tomb, built by the wife of the second Mughal emperor. Overnight
Day 03: Delhi / Gwalior (Train)
Early morning train for Gwalior- the pearl of Hindustan. Then visit the imposing and magnificent Gwalior Fort, Man Mandir a six-towered palace and the Jai Vilas Palace. This palace is famous for its ornate chandeliers and crystals. Later, visit the Gujari Mahal, the Tomb of Muhammad Ghaus followed by a visit to the tomb of the famous musician TANSEN. Overnight.
Day 04: Gwalior / Agra
Morning, proceed by road towards Agra, the old imperial capital of India. Visit the historical Agra Fort, which housed three Mughal Emperors. Each one left their print on the architecture - red sandstone of Akbar and Jahangir and white marble of Shah Jahan. Overnight
Day 05: Agra
Early morning visit of the marvellous Taj Mahal, whose eternal beauty will astonish and mesmerize its visitors. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631. Thereafter, visit the beautiful mausoleum of the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, the first monument in India to feature "Pietra Dura". It is often referred to as the "mini-Taj". Overnight
Day 06: Agra / Fatehpur Sikri / Jaipur
Journey to the princely state of Rajasthan begins. Enroute, visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city built by Akbar which was the Mughal capital for 14 years. Then, visit the ornithological reserve of Keoladeo Ghana, a famous bird sanctuary, on rickshaws or on bicycles. Thereafter, continue towards Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan also called the Pink City. Evening, enjoy a joyful rickshaw ride in this quaint city. Overnight
Day 07: Jaipur
Start with a visit to Hawa Mahal and then proceed to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the Rajput Empire rulers. Ascend to this hilltop fort in Maharaja Style, by decorated elephants. Visit the beautiful complex of palaces. Then proceed for a city tour of Jaipur, visit City Palace- the Royal residence of Maharaja and the observatory of the 18th century. Thereafter, walk in the bustling bazaars of Jaipur, well known for beautiful carpets, enameled ornaments, precious and semi-precious stones and many other arts and crafts. Overnight
Day 08: Jaipur / Samode / Delhi
Enjoy a morning drive towards Sanganer, known for its blue pottery and colorful hand-made paper. Then continue towards the old caravan city of Samode locked up in its walls and dominated by its castle. Visit the palace and the beautiful Sheesh Mahal- the hall of mirrors. Thereafter, continue towards Delhi. Overnight.
Day 09: Delhi / Next Destination
Depart for the airport to take flight to your destination.
