The tour commences with an 8:30am collection from your city based hotel. Visit Klein Constantia Wine Estate. As part of the original vineyard that in the 18th century produced "Constantia", prized throughout Europe by the leaders and aristocracy of the time, Klein Constantia has helped to reclaim its former glory by initiating the revival of this famous sweet wine. Family owned and run, Klein Constantia's philosophy is founded on quality rather than quantity, reflected in the wines regularly inviting accolades, both locally and internationally. Klein Constantia Estate produces an array of varietal labelled premium wines, such as Sauvignon Blanc (including the reserve Perdeblokke), Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and small quantities of Semillon, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Blends include flagship red Marlbrook and flagship white MME Marlbrook. Probably the most famous and admired wine is the Vin de Constance, a re-creation of the legendary sweet Constantia which you will have the opportunity of tasting upon your visit.

Afterward, proceed to Groot Constantia Wine Estate where the roots of the South African wine industry lie. It is the oldest wine producing farm in South Africa. It was developed by Simon van der Stel in 1685. Since then, Groot Constantia has had an uninterrupted record of being a wine farm and its name is forever linked to the most famous wines that were made in South Africa. Today the Estate is owned by Groot Constantia Trust, a company without gain, whose main objective is to preserve this beautiful and historic estate for posterity and to honor the name of South African wine.

Groot Constantia produces a range of wines, excelling in reds as well as whites. The Estate has won numerous awards for its wines, and has done so consistently. Our stop at Groot Constantia includes a visit to the Manor House which houses a cultural history museum portraying the early years of Groot Constantia. Afterward, enjoy a tour of the Cloete Cellar. Dating back to 1791, the original wine cellar houses a display of drinking vessels and wine making equipment. Its beautiful pediment gable is not to be missed.

End your visit to Groot Constantia with a wine tasting followed by lunch at Jonkershuis Restaurant.

End the day with a final estate visit to Steenberg Estate. Steenberg wines have been awarded many international and local accolades for their outstanding quality. Amongst the latest is the gold award for the 1999 Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc (Reserve) at the 1999 Michaelangelo International Wine Awards ceremony, and the 1998 Steenberg Merlot was awarded as the best Merlot entered a the 2000 International Wine & Spirit competition in London. The Steenberg farmstead including the manor house and the other buildings have been declared a national monument. The main gable, a 'holbol' outlined by heavy mouldings in a small keystone, is the only surviving example of it's type in the Cape Peninsula. Visit the state-of-the-art cellar, completed in 1996, and has the capacity to produce around 70,000 cases, The cellar also boasts a vinoteque, where bottled wines can be kept under ideal conditions until ready to be enjoyed.
