Itinerary
Day 02 Arrival Transfer / Dambulla
Meet on arrival at the Bandaranayke International Airport by Luxury Holidays Representative.
Transfer to Dambulla.
Check-in at Amaya Lake 4* (Superior Room)
Dinner & Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 03 Dambulla / Sigiriya (Rock) / Village Visit / Polonnaruwa /Dambulla
Breakfast at the Hotel.
This morning, we proceed to Sigiriya to explore the Sigiriya Rock fortress - Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70-hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster..
Leaving behind Sigiriya, proceed to experience a local village atmosphere - we take a bullock cart ride and a short canoe trip to the village. Here we are welcomed into the home of a local family where we try our hand at preparing a meal of curry, dahl, spiced rice, and pickle.
After enjoying our homemade lunch.
Thereafter, proceed to Polonnaruwa for a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa - Which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD, and which is a world heritage site - Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya – where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in ‘Upright’, ‘Sedentary’ and ‘Recumbent’ postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, king Parakramabahu’s statue, and the Parakrama Samudraya lake built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic..
On completion, return to the hotel for Dinner & overnight stay.
Day 04 Dambulla (Cave Temple) / Kandy (Sightseeing)
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Thereafter, leave for Kandy. En route visit Dambulla Rock Temple - Climb up to the temple, which was donated by king Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and the ceiling is the largest area of paintings found in the world. These caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock spanning 14 meters.
Continue drive to Kandy with a stop at a Spice Gardens in Matale to see the different types of flavours the island is famous for and how they are grown. Lunch and a cookery demonstration at the Spice Garden will make you appreciate just what a feast for the senses Sri Lanka can be.
Once arrived to Kandy, Proceed on a sightseeing tour of Kandy City with a visit to Royal Botanical Garden - Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, and is a World Heritage Site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts center and a gem museum and a lapidary.

Day 05 Kandy / Nuwara Eliya (Sightseeing) /Kandy
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Today, we proceed on an excursion to Nuwara Eliya - Nuwara Eliya, is a city tucked away within the hill country of the Central Province. The town is renowned for its lush tea plantations, waterfalls, red-roofed English country style houses, a golf course and a manmade lake. Nuwara Eliya is nicked named “Little England” because it was established by the British in the 1840s as a base for the colonists and still retains some distinctive English features, like the red post box and the Queen’s Cottage.
En route visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.
In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing.
Return to the hotel for Dinner & Overnight stay.
Day 06 Kandy / Colombo (Sightseeing)
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Thereafter, leave for Colombo and proceed on a sightseeing tour of Colombo Sri Lanka’s commercial capital is a multi-cultural cosmopolitan community that encompasses the past, present, and future, packaging it in a delightful manner. Colombo constantly reinvents itself and absorbs new influences, whilst retaining its unique character. Exploring Colombo will leave you pleasantly surprised with all that it has to offer. Colombo boasts the best of Sri Lanka’s shopping from sophisticated up-market shopping outlets to street markets and bazaars and everything in between.

Day 07 Colombo / Departure Transfer
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the morning on leisure or leave for the airport to connect with the departure flight.
